3 months ...

Been three months since i last saw this page. October 17th was the day i decided to give all up and get down and dirty with the prep for the CAT. Nov 19th came and went, leaving a feeling of satisfaction of a job well done.

Nov 21 was the day it dawned on me that I was screwed, screwed bad in something that i usually take for granted. English - Verbal Ability and Reading Comprehension are always my strong points, and scores >99%ile had come to be the norm, seeing the "cat-keys" from the coaching classes had me sure that I had thoroughly screwed up the JIF questions and a couple of the Sentence Completion. Euphoria turned to agony when i realised that the much awaited calls would not materialise because of English ~13%.

The new year ... the second day, checked my score, hoping for 90+%ile score so that i can justify the 1000s of rs. spent in admission forms. VA 2%. dashed.

Colleges ranked 1-5 out 10-20 out.

Now the wait for the 8th. SNAP results and hope for colleges ranked somewhere up there ....

two months of ignoring all but the most important items both at work and at home lead to absolute zilch.

read this yesterday ... William A. Ward , To Risk

To laugh is to risk appearing a fool,
To weep is to risk appearing sentimental
To reach out to another is to risk involvement,
To expose feelings is to risk exposing your true self
To place your ideas and dreams before a crowd is to risk their loss
To love is to risk not being loved in return,
To hope is to risk despair,
To try is to risk to failure.
But risks must be taken because the greatest hazard in life is to risk nothing.
The person who risks nothing, does nothing, has nothing is nothing.
He may avoid suffering and sorrow,
But he cannot learn, feel, change, grow or live.
Chained by his servitude he is a slave who has forfeited all freedom.
Only a person who risks is free.
The pessimist complains about the wind;
The optimist expects it to change;
And the realist adjusts the sails.

Hope to learn something adjust the sails and move on....

2 in VA is ~50%ile, there are others who seem to have done much much worse.

50%ile may sound OK, better than a hundred thousand applicants, but worse off than another hundred thousand applicants
